It Looks Like Business As Usual In Dover Township

In am in
total agreement with Bill Heyer's Feb. 28 letter, "Dover government,
it looks like business and politics as usual". Heyer and I have had some
differences of opinion in the past, but his letter as well as some other
recent
articles, have impressed me to think that he is a truly sincere and
civic minded
citizen of our community. In his letter he had explained that he had
volunteered
his time collecting signatures for the change of government, sincerely
believing
that it would bring about positive change. Some of us who opposed the
change
argued that it would only bring added cost and more complication. The
proponents
of the change promised us that there would be no added cost. Now that we
are
entering the third month of the new system, we can now see the extra
costs roll
in as Heyer points out in his letter.
It takes an open minded sincerely fair minded person to
admit that he may had
been mislead by the Change of Government Movement. Besides the new
government,
it is my opinion that many well intentioned people have been duped into
believing they were going to get a truly "Independent" mayor, only to
get a
charade. Some people had hoped to get a third party type independent,
and what
we got was hard core partisanship with most major appointments going to
hard
core Democratic Party cronies.
I truly believe that some of the "Yes" Team candidates
were sincere when they
said they would eliminate "Pay to Play", but the first thing their
winning
mayoral winner did was to install "Pay to Play" campaign contributors.
Heyer is right when he says we have many unsolved problems to correct
including roads and traffic, several years ago we were making headway
towards
some traffic issues. Now the Brush era government is more preoccupied
with
moving furniture around, hiring secretaries and who gets the attorney
jobs.
