STOP THE WELLNESS  CENTER! 

Move The Wellness Center.  Protect our Children!

   

 To the Honorable Governor Jon Corzine,

     NJ State Boards of Education and all local and NJ State Governmental Agencies of concern:

   

           Stop the Wellness Center! proposed to be built on school property, in between and in close proximity to the Toms River intermediate East and the Hooper Elementary Schools located on Hooper Avenue Toms River. Myself and many concerned citizens and parents of Toms River believe this proposal of a Wellness Center on school property shall place our children in harms way and therefore create risk to the security and safety of the children! We also believe this proposal may violate legal municipal Planning Board procedure and land use law, may negatively compete with private local business, violate DEP and CAFRA regulation and law, and that this proposal may be a misuse of public property and the taxpayer's dollars.

              We also believe that this application of a private business entity know as Fitness and Wellness LLC.  in partnership with the Toms River Regional Board of Education and conducting private business on public property, is entering into unknown legal territory and may therefore be setting a precedence and new case law. As a parent of two children being educated in these schools, a citizen, taxpayer, and voter (who voted for you Governor Corzine), I/we ask that this proposal BE DENIED! Although this proposed Wellness Center may create revenues to offset taxation, we believe the possible detriment to the good, welfare, and safety to my children and that of all our children out weighs any benefit and is just reason for its denial.

              We the citizens ask that you yourself ,Governor Corzine, and any and all Governmental Agencies of concern very carefully and with prudent  judgment view this proposal from every perspective and not only through the vision of the NJ State Boards of Education.

                With the use of public property and tax dollars we propose that this issue of a Wellness Center could be considered for a school referendum. We as taxpayers and concerned citizens ask for an accountable response to valid concerns! It has been very difficult to obtain pertinent public information.  Disclosure of much of this information has not been made available and is labeled as "confidential". Our politically connected Toms River Regional School Administration along with  Toms River Township Municipal Officials have been somewhat unresponsive to many of these concerns and questions. Please stop this Wellness Center! Even with the best of intended security measures the possible safety risk to our children is too great!
