True
Conservatives in 2008
by Joseph A. Lypowy 5/07/07
Recently, the
major Republican candidates for the 2008 presidential election met for a
television debate. Most of these candidates claim to be “Reagan
Republicans” and offer platitudes to the late conservative leader.
Unfortunately, most of the major media darlings such as Rudy Giuliani
and John McCain, often referred to as “Neocons”, are really not true
conservatives worthy of the title “Reaganites”. The 1980 “Reagan
Revolution” was in many ways a revival of the 1960’s Barry Goldwater
“Americanist” conservative movement. Ronald Reagan was in fact a “Barry
Goldwater” Republican.
In the late 1970’s Ronald Reagan ran on a anti CFR, anti Trilateral
Commission platform just like Goldwater did back in 1964, and his
traditional Republican values is what propelled him to the presidency.
There is no way that Giuliani, McCain, Bloomberg, Newt Gingrich, or any
other Rockefeller style Republican can call themselves a true
conservative and belong to elitist organizations such a the CFR or the
Trilateral Commission. Senator Barry Goldwater wrote in his 1964 book
“No Apologies”, "The Trilateral Commission is intended to be the vehicle
for multinational consolidation of the commercial and banking interests
by seizing control of the political government of the United States. The
Trilateral Commission represents a skillful, coordinated effort to seize
control and consolidate the four centers of power--Political, Monetary,
Intellectual, and Ecclesiastical."
There are true conservatives running for president worthy of
claiming the Reagan label such as Congressman Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo and
Allan Keyes. “The obligations of our representatives in Washington are
to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars,
while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people” , says
candidate Ron Paul. Tom Tancredo is quoted as saying “To be called a
sovereign nation, a nation has to be able to control its own borders. It
is controlling your own destiny in a way, and we don't control our own
borders”.
Tom
Tancredo is a lifelong
conservative with nearly a
decade of experience in the U.S.
Congress. There he advanced his
reputation as a solid pro-life,
pro-gun, small government
republican, and emerged as the
leader in the national struggle
for true immigration reform.
