America Under Invasion ... by Mexican Trucks

Mexican trucks are rolling over the U.S. border, freely bound for anywhere in America, and it seems that nothing -- not furious Teamsters nor angry environmentalists, not even Congress -- can stop them.

Are the drivers properly licensed and sober or well-rested with the legal amount of down time? Do they speak English or understand U.S. road signs? Will the trucks be carrying illegal immigrants, drugs, terrorists, nuclear or biological weapons or other contraband? Will they belch tons of banned pollutants into America’s air? Tuckerton Seaport Awarded ‘BIG’ Grant                                  $500,000 grant to fund expansion of boat slips and dockage                      TUCKERTON, NJ  - Tuckerton Seaport, the recreated maritime village located in Ocean County, was awarded $500,000 from the US Department of Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).  The Seaport was one of only 10 sites in the nation to receive this funding.  The grant comes from the National Boating and Infrastructure Grant Program. The grant will be used to expand the transient boat slips and the construction of a bath and shower house.  The project will add up to an additional 40 boat slips and retro fit the existing 27 slips with water and electrical hook-ups. “Boating is an important part of what we do at the Seaport.  This funding is a great investment in the Seaport and our Community and will make it easier for our friends and guests to visit us by boat” said George Kurtz, President of the Tuckerton Seaport.

Mexico City, 9 June – The Global Compact was launched in Mexico today, with more than 200 representatives of business, government, civil society and the UN system attending the official ceremony at Mexico City’s Polyforum Siqueiros. Addressing the participants, President Vicente Fox praised Mexican businesses for their support of “this great cause” and announced the commitment of his administration and the country’s entire public sector to the 10 Global Compact principles. 120 Mexican businesses joined the Global Compact at the launch, but the number rose to nearly 200 companies in the course of the day. The Global Compact is a program of the United Nations.

Toms River Chamber Honors Veterans

   On Wednesday November 10, the Toms River - Ocean County Chamber of Commerce honored hundreds of area military combat veterans at the Ritacco Center in Dover Township. Two local area  World War II heroes, Leonard "Bud" Lomell and Charles Waterhouse were the main honorees at the event. Lomell is known for his heroic act of climbing the cliffs overlooking Utah Beach on D-Day and knocking out Nazi artillery canons which was a turning point that day. Col.
