Thomas Blomquist, a retired Coast Guard officer who formed the New Jersey Conservative Party after losing the 1989 Republican gubernatorial primary, passed away on Friday after a long illness.  He was 66.  Blomquist was the GOP nominee for State Senator against then-Senate President John Russo in 1987, and was the Conservative Party candidate for Governor in 1993.  A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-9 PM, and at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Herbertsville, with funeral services on Wednesday morning. TUCKERTON SEAPORT RENAMES CHILDREN’S EXPLORATION TO MARSHALL’S MEADOW Dedication in Memory of Edna Marshall                TUCKERTON, NJ-Tuckerton Seaport, the maritime museum in Ocean County has renamed the Children's Exploration Park in memory of Edna Marshall, a Seaport supporter, local historian and the first honorary Collector of Port for Tuckerton.  Members of the Marshall family were in attendance for the dedication of Marshall’s Meadow at the members' preview on  April 1.

Local Artist Honored at Tuckerton Seaport Charity Auction

Tuckerton, NJ- Tuckerton Seaport honored local artist and historian Cathleen Engelsen at the annual Captain’s Charity “TLC” (tables, lamps, and collectibles) Auction held on April 29, 2005 at the Sea Oaks Country Club in Little Egg Harbor. Engelsen, of Surf City, Long Beach Island, is noted for her interpretations of New Jersey history through art.                       

Auction items were donated and decorated by regional artists and other creative Tuckerton Seaport friends.  All proceeds raised from the auction will help support the Seaport’s education programs, which serves over 7,000 school children each year.

Ocean County STOP FTAA Committee  Held Public Meeting About Dangers  OF Proposed Trade Bill                                                                                  The Ocean County Stop The FTAA Committee held a public meeting concerning the negative impact proposed trade legislation will have on the American Public. The meeting took place at the Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library  on June 23. The keynote speaker was Norman Tregenza. Anyone who was concerned about the negative impact of free trade legislation was welcomed to attend.
